In Commenting on Ethnographic Collections

As a Việt Kiều my practice is designed to explore the impact that external histories and memory of conflict and war has had on my existence and that of the Vietnamese Diaspora. Unable to physically, emotionally or intellectually share the experiences of my ancestors, I am left to create my own interplay between collected artifacts, history, politics and memory to form my own fragmented understanding of how contemporary Vietnamese identity has been shaped and formed.

In Commenting on Ethnographic Collections, presents collected artifacts that related to Vietnamese culture and history. French Indochinese coins, 15th century ceramics, and gavel from a refugee camp are presented in museum like vitrines – projected onto the objects is the missing history too often left out when static objects are used to define whole populations of people.
